At Maritiman there are many different ships, boats and barges to discover. Dive into the deep with the submarine Nordkaparen, hear the destroyer Småland’s ship’s clock chime or view the lightship Fladen’s beautiful stem.

A visit to Gothenburg’s maritime experience museums will help you and your class to experience a bygone era of Gothenburg’s grand shipbuilding and maritime history in an adventurous and exciting way. With our museum as your classroom, you and your pupils can examine areas such as technological development, the history of Gothenburg and the Cold War.

Explore Maritiman’s ocean lab, a world of exciting experiments and brain-teasing problem-solving. Here you can learn more about the properties of water – linked to shipping, recreational boating and our environment. How does a submarine work, who can build the fastest boat, and what can we do to save the oceans? Through 11 different stations, you can explore and learn more about density, hydrodynamics, surface tension and much more.

You can also book a 30-minute tour with one of Maritiman’s knowledgeable guides, where you will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of maritime issues and get an insight into maritime development through the ages. If you would like your visit to be linked to a specific part of the school curriculum, you are welcome to send your request to our museum education officer johannes.olsson [at] (Johannes).
